I have a lot of blogging to catch up on, but as this Peanut and I were reading over the blog posts from his past birthdays, and we realized that I hadn't ever posted his last two birthdays because of all my lagging, I knew I didn't want to miss another one. So yes, I do plan to catch up on all this missing parts of the last year or two this summer, but I'm jumping ahead to celebrate this birthday boy.
His day was a mix of little bits of special treatment and lots of normal every day (that's what happens when your birthday is two days before your parents leave on a trip, and the same day that your sister and grandma and uncle are all coming, and it's a Monday. So we went to take care of a couple of our doggie friends, and had a piano lesson, and cleaned up his bedroom and took care of some errands and chores. But he did get Taco Bell for lunch and didn't have to do math, and spent a couple hours playing video games, so it wasn't all the same ol' same ol'.
I did not take enough pictures of our day, but I did get a couple of the cake. He originally wanted a dragon, which I said I could do (and may have been just as easy as this one), but then he switched to a fancy mint chocolate cake that we saw a picture of, and so here it is.
Before the cake though--everyone made it in time for dinner (and I got no pictures--of the people, the food, nothing), so we had Tacu bowls (a peruvian chicken dish from a favorite restaurant in St. George) for dinner and then present time!
He's glad his sister is home. We told him that should be present enough, but she was nice and brought him his favorite treats and a couple little things from the campus bookstore.
And he got tons of Lego. He still loves them, and builds them, and plays with them, and makes movies with them. He's about to the point where he can film most of the Harry Potter movies with all his sets! They are definitely taking over his room.
And just a couple things about this kid:
He's turning into quite the hiking and adventure buddy. He can hike for miles and miles, especially if we are with friends, and.is willing to indulge my frequent stops to look at birds, mushrooms, and wildflowers.
He's been learning to cook this year (but still wants me to warm his food up--guess the microwave isn't interesting enough to be worth using 🤷♀️.)
He still loves his Lego and Harry Potter, and especially Harry Potter Lego.
He is inspired by absolutely everything he reads, watches, or comes across --it's very common to hear him say after watching a new TV show or reading a book, "What if. . ." And then he launches into an elaborate plot or new invention description.
He wishes he had a younger sibling, and I think he'd be an excellent big brother, but he's also a great baby of the family and we're going to stick with that😁.
