Creative Genius

AKA--Why Our House Is Always Trashed.

I love how creative our kids are--I mean, check out the accessories Bug made for his little flat bed truck one afternoon--a crane and spools of metal.

And then there's the cast of characters he's creating for his horror book he wants to write. This poster popped up on our dining room wall a couple weeks ago.

I guess it complements the dino family poster (he created a dinosaur for each of us) that he's had hanging in our living room for months.

Not to be outdone, Bean created a world where her animals are a farming family with 10 kids in the 1800's. She also has notebooks and papers all over our house that contain the various novels and stories she's always writing.

And then there's Peanut. He's in the cooking and shopping stage of play.

He's always filling bags with food and pots and pans and making masterpieces that any chef would be proud of. My library book bag, the laundry baskets, my shopping bags. It's funny because Bean used to fill boxes and bags with all her toys, and I always chalked it up to the fact that we moved 6 times in her first 4.5 years of life, so packing and moving was a big part of her life. But Peanut has never moved, and yet, filling containers with stuff is a big part of his life. It must just be a stage for 3 and 4 year olds.

So, basically, my kids aren't messy, they are just creative. It's hard to demand that they clean that up.
