Each year at Corvian, the kids create a some type of book. They research, plan, take notes, write, and "publish" their books, complete with illustrations, poems, glossaries, maps, charts and graphs. This year, the 4th grade did non-fiction on the topic of their choice.
Bean chose to research The Amazing Savanna (so fitting, hahaha).
She did a beautiful job on her book and Peanut and I enjoyed having her share it with us at school.
They also showed us a couple pieces of their artwork that went along with their study of NC history this year.
And their final project in art were these face pinch pots.
Finally, we headed out to enjoy the beautiful weather with a picnic outside on the greenway. It's really fun to see both kids with the friends they've made this year.
Bean has enjoyed her class.
Bean's had a fun year with her 3 teachers. While we all recognize that there have been some things we gave up when they returned to school, Bean's mostly just enjoyed being back in the classroom with her friends, and has especially loved the plays and writing they've done.
We just found out that this assistant teacher won't be returning next year. Because the school is set up to "loop" the kids every 2 years, they stay with the same class and teachers for 4th and 5th grade, so normally, there wouldn't be a lot of changes for next year, but it looks like they will be getting a new teacher.
And finally, the aide/shadow for one of the kids in her class who joined the team a couple months ago. She's been lucky to have 3 teachers for a class of 21 the last part of school.
